Adobe cs5 upgrade12/31/2022 The exclusion however is going to be the Sub-Professional / Prosumer market items like Elements (both Photoshop and Premiere) and Lightroom, at least as I understand it, since they both sell well boxed and are not available through Creative Cloud (LR4 is available as part of Creative Cloud, but only bundled). Adobe released downloads of the software and static keys that avoid this for paid customers of CS2 who may need to reinstall the software.ĭownloading CS2 from Adobe without owning a license for CS2 is piracy, equal to illegally obtaining CS6 without paying.Īs far as boxed copies, they just don't sell well, and Adobe is pushing "cloud" deployment, where you either purchase in full, or through a subscription, the software and download it as-needed to registered workstations, so retail doesn't make much sense. The serial numbers provided as a part of the download may only be used by customers who legitimately purchased CS2 or Acrobat 7 and need to maintain their current use of these products."Īdobe is eliminating the activation servers for CS2, since there are still many users who have yet to upgrade, if they were to attempt to reinstall this software they would be unable to since the software can't verify it's authentic. These products were released more than seven years ago, do not run on many modern operating systems, and are no longer supported.Īdobe strongly advises against running unsupported and outdated software. ![]() " Adobe has disabled the activation server for CS2 products, including Acrobat 7, because of a technical issue. Ps - good work "conditioning" your worker drones. Which is what it will all be eventually anyway. I don't know if that means you can still buy Photoshop as an application (download only) or if it means everyone moves to the cloud. If you "have to" upgrade down the road, you may be able to recoup some cost by selling CS4 (media & keys).Īlso, I think I read somewhere that Adobe is no longer selling boxed software May 1, 2013. I still use CS2! (which is free, now btw). I wish that pricing lasted more than a year but it's not like I'm losing the CS4 license if I drop the Creative Cloud option. :-)Īs far as the $30/mo Creative Cloud option, that might be a good option in some cases for us, particularly if I can go from Photoshop CS4 to the full CS6 suite for just $30/mo. In fact, not a single person has asked for an upgrade. I think in most of our cases, we'll just continue to use CS4 because the work they are doing isn't really taxing that version at all. However, if you're not working the software that heavily, CS4 is still usable today. ![]() Odds are the company can justify spending $400-$700 on the software, if it's a matter of cashflow, then the "cloud" offerings might be appealing. Switch to "Creative Cloud" for $30/month and get the full Creative suite (if you need additional software) or Photoshop CS6 "Cloud" for $20. Purchase a boxed upgrade of CS5 (or 5.5), then upgrade THAT to CS6 (total cost should be around $400, roughly $300 less than full purchase cost of CS6) ![]() ![]() As far as I'm aware, we've never done any volume licensing with Adobe other than the possible exception of Adobe Acrobat. I think that they would qualify for a retail box upgrade. These started out as licenses purchased around 1999-2002 and upgraded to CS4 back in 2009. That doesn't sound right, at all, Adobe still offers upgrades from CS5 to CS6 for all products, i'd either contact adobe sales, or a reseller like CDW/PCM/Softmart for verification. If you are upgrading a retail box version you may be able to get a sealed box upgrade, but given the last couple of version were heavy on the download and require logging in to an Adobe account tied to the key, it wouldn't surprise me if they prevent this now too. Now we are all screwed into always upgrading to the latest version, or never upgrade and just buy a new full version every time. I talked to a Dell ASAP guy late last year about upgrading a CS5 VLA license to CS6 (CS5.5 being between, so a "2-back" upgrade) and it was all possible before the end of 2012.
